Leaking light fixture after busted pipe?

My neighbors apparently had a busted hot water pipe, according to a note the plumber left. When I went into my kitchen, everything was covered in water. My biggest concern, however, is that water is leaking from the light fixture and the light doesn't work. I tried the light before I noticed the water, but I am wondering is it safe to take off the glass part from around the fixture? I've called and let the property manager know about the electrical problems. Is there anything I can do? If I do leave, should I shut the electricity off from the breaker box? any thoughts would be appreciated. If it helps, I live in a single-story apartment that is somewhat like a duplex, and I really have no idea how this got wet as it is out of the way for any water to have traveled unless the pipe literally exploded right above my Water Heater (which is, for some odd reason, above my stove). Thanks

Leave the light off.

Since this is a rental, please don't attempt to do anything with it. Let the landlord take care of it. This is what you pay rent for.

Insist that this be checked by a licensed electrician. Do not settle for a handyman either. Water and electricity are a bad mix. This needs to be checked by someone qualified to spot a problem.
