What about a double kitchen sink?
I'm getting a new one. What's gauge do I need in Stainless Steel?
I just completed a kitchen remodel including counter top and sink.
I went with an 18 gauge stainless steel sink. Did research on them. The smaller the number, the heavier (thicker) the metal. 18 gauge is about the heaviest sink you can find in a hardware store. The thicker the metal, the less "tinny" it sounds. Also some have sounder deadening material glued underneath. This will help with the noise too.
My old condo had a 22 gauge "el cheapo" stainless steel sink. I didn't like it. To tinny, to small, too shallow, and too noisy.
You might also want to consider a deep sink. Mine is 9 inches while most are around 6-7 inches. The drawback is that if you are tall, you will be bending over a lot to wash dishes or place them on the bottom of the sink. The plus is that water doesn't splash as much onto the counters and a deep sink hold more dirty dishers.
I also opted for a single large sink rather than a double sink. I've always had double sinks and opted for a single sink so I can soak pans, cake racks, cookie sheets and large pans (like for roasting turkey) in the sink. This is more of a personal preference. I know that most people like double sinks, so doing what I did might hold the resale value of my house down a bit. But I'm hoping the other parts of the remodel will more than offset this minor item.
